Las Vegas is well known for its entertainment facilities (hence the city's nickname) and the city's many lavish resorts. Many of the resorts and entertainment venues are situation on or near the Las Vegas Strip, a 4½ (7.2 kilometer) stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard with many attractions, numerous distinctive landmarks and buildings, and, at night, lots of neon lights. Only part of the Strip technically lies within Las Vegas' city limits, other parts fall within the unincorporated Township of Paradise.
